Castillo de Piñar all natural Tomate Sofrito Casero is a traditional Spanish NON GMO fry tomato sauce cooked with a hint of onions and garlic. Our Tomate Sofrito is an extension and improvement of traditional tomato sauces, used as a base ingredient or enjoyed for its own flavor. Tomate Sofrito is the most common tomato ingredient used in Spanish cuisine, other than fresh tomatoes.

This Tomate Sofrito is distinct from most tomato sauces because the tomatoes have been sautéed in a frying pan with Castillo de Piñar Extra Virgin Olive Oil. No water added.

How is it Prepared?

Is made by first low frying garlic and onion pieces in our Extra Virgin Olive Oil with spices and then adding naturaly grown red pear tomato puree.

This well-made Sofrito allows the acid in the tomatoes to mellow and mix with the flavors of the onion, pepper and garlic.

Daily Uses In Your Kitchen

Our traditional Sofrito can be eaten with rice or eggs and is often used as an ingredient in other dishes, such as filling for empanadas, with Pasta, white rice, over fryed eggs or in Paella; it can even be used as a dip.
